Guest Carl Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I emailed the motoring corestpondent of the Daily Telegraph over the problems we are having over which oil to use for the 130 tdi and this was his reply, Quote {Must be the VAG 506.01SLX Longlife II, which is made by Castrol or the Millers Oils equivalent (www.millersoils.co.uk) Anything else could adversely affect the coatings on the pistons and bore liners of this VAG engine. Shocking that the Ford dealer knew nothing of this. They have been dealing with VW diesel engines in Galaxy since 1995 and (different) special oil has been required ever since the first TDI 110s.} unquote. So it seems that somebody knows whats going on. Carl Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 and it isn't just Ford dealers. The Seat dealers are as thick as pig pooh on this too. It is a scandal. I have personally topped up with Castrol SLX2 Longlife. I will buy sufficient for the dealer to use at the 10,000 mile service. Seat still haven't contacted me......after I asked the question about this oil debate. Quote
